Alex suffers head trauma

AC Milan centre-back Alex was rushed to hospital after he was knocked unconscious in his team's 3-1 win at Lazio on Sunday.


The 33-year-old started the game but collided with his goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as the latter leapt to gather a free-kick in the 50th minute.

Alex received a knock to the head from his young colleague's knee and was out cold when he was stretchered off to be replaced by Phillipe Mexes, who subsequently netted Milan's second goal.
The former Chelsea and Paris-Saint Germain player regained consciousness in the dressing room and was accompanied by club CEO Adriano Galliani to hospital, where it was confirmed he had suffered head trauma.

The extent of the damage is unknown, but Alex could be forced to spend the night in Rome under medical observation.

His loss will be a blow to coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, who has fielded the Brazilian veteran from the start in each of the Rossoneri's last four games - a period in which they have remained unbeaten, recording three wins on the row.
