Striker Vardy, who recently made his debut for England, is the Premier League's top goalscorer so far this season with nine in nine matches - the same as Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller in the Bundesliga, and Barcelona star Neymar in La Liga.
Ranieri insists it is not his goals but his contribution to the team that is most important, but he hopes Vardy can maintain his "fantastic" form.
The Italian, whose side are fifth in the table, said: "I hope he can continue. He is a fantastic player for goals, but it's not important to think about goals or not. It's about how he plays for the team.
"We don't sell him. He is very happy here and it's too soon to talk about this. He will stay with us and nobody goes in January - not Riyad [Mahrez], not Jamie, not anyone.
"We want to improve and achieve our goal, and for that we need all our best players.
"It's the first year Jamie has shown his attitude in the Premier League. He scored 16 in the Championship and now it's the start of his learning in the top championship. If he can continue in this way, it will be fantastic."
